Good to Know

Shopping

It is a good idea to buy groceries, before you arrive at Casa di Baci. The shopping possibilities in Bajardo are limited. We always go to Conad in La Riveiera Shopville which is on the way, when we arrive by car. Here you can everything you need. For directions, please click here

In Bajardo there is a butcher who also sells homemade cheese, and a mini market where you can buy local vegetables, charcuteries, and necessities.

San Remo has a comprehensive shopping district, including a beautiful food market. For parking, go to Piazza Colombo or Parcheggio Casinò

Beach Life

Casa di Baci is located approximately 25-30 km from the coast (45 min. by car), and you have many different beaches to choose between. We usually go to Bussana. It is a sandy beach, and you don’t have to rent a sunbed to stay there. It has a snack bar, toilet, shower, and pretty much everything you need to have an excellent day at the beach :-) For directions, please click here

Trekking Running

Hiking & Running

There are numerous hiking tracks in the area. One of our favourite walks goes down into the valley, across an ancient Roman bridge, and continues up to Bajardo on the other side of the valley. We usually go back to the house by the road. To find the road downhill through the valley, turn right at the asphalt road. You see the dirt road on your left hand after app. 800 metres.

Our favourite running route starts at the asphalt road below the house. You turn right towards Castelvittorio and continue app. 3,5 km to a small chapel just before the next valley. At this point we turn around

Bajardo

Bajardo is the closest village to Casa di Baci. You can see it on the mountaintop 1.8 km away – the distance is 5 km by the road. Bajardo is said to be in the sunniest region of Liguria, 900 meters above sea level. The landscape is unique, and a perfect stop for bikers, looking for a rest and a stunning view.

The village has less than 300 inhabitants but still you'll find a mini market, a butcher shop, a tabacchi, three nice restaurants with traditional, local food: Au Casun, Ristorante Jolanda (Massimo’s), and La Pineta. During summer time the Osteria "Ra Culeta" at Piazza Sonnaz is open too.

Make sure to visit the church ruin in the old part of the village on top of the mountain, as well as the "new" church.

Enjoy :-)

Eating out

Bajardo: Ristorante Jolanda The restaurant is truly Italian and quite authentic. There are no menu cards, but lots of homemade anti-pasta, pasta and dishes with wild boar and rabbit. It’s the first restaurant on your left hand when you go towards the church. If you only have time for one restaurant visit, choose Jolanda.

Au Casun, Is located on your right, when you drive into Bajardo. Overlooking the valley to Casa di Baci a nice place with a cozy atmosphere. At night Au Casun turns into a bar.

Ra Culeta is located in the small piazza of Bajardo. Really a nice restaurant where they serve light meals, snacks, tarts, vino and birra (beer). Everything you can wish for :-)

Ristorante La Pineta is located on your right hand side on your way to Casa di Baci and Castelvittorio. They serve excellent italian traditionalfood, pizzas on Saturdays.

Castelvittorio: Osteria del Portico The city has a little, pretty piazza with a nice bar.

Pigna: Bar Trattoria La Posta A very nice lunch for a few euros. Visit the medieval city above the road.

Appricale: Ristorante Apricale da Delio  Nice ambience and food. Check also Apricus Osteria & Bar great place and a fantastic view.

Dolceacqua: Interesting town with a beautiful Roman bridge. Lots of tourist-friendly, nice restaurants at the piazza. Check out Ristorante Casa E Bottega always a good experience.

SanremoGlam Villa Noseda our favourite restaurant in San Remo - excellent food to a fair price. I always go for "La gran grigliata di pesce e crostacei" :-)
